Up until a few years ago, most people employed in stable jobs in Japan were not permitted to have a job on the side.
However, as part of the government’s work style reforms, employees are now free in principal to do so.
With more and more companies adopting remote working practices due to Covid-19, “gig work,” in which employees work on a one-off basis during their spare time, is now making waves.
Jobs are mainly found through a matching app.
There are no interviews or resumes to submit, and you may receive a job offer as quickly as two to three minutes and even start work an hour after you’ve been hired.
Because it’s so easy to use, there is a growing number of people of all ages registering for the service.
