In January of this year, a stork that had lost one of its legs was taken care of at the Prefectural Stork Park in Toyooka City, Hyogo Prefecture.
The stork was being rehabilitated wearing an artificial leg made by the park’s veterinarian using toy bats and other materials.
When a prosthetist heard about it on the news, she used her expertise in making human prostheses to create a prosthetic leg for a stork.
The new prosthesis was made from a mold made of gypsum to exactly match the missing leg.
