There are Some Suffixes that Represent People

When you add hito (person) to the name of a country, this indicates a person’s nationality. For example, by adding jinn (hito) to amerika, it becomes amerikajin (American). There are some other suffixes that stand for hito (person). Just like English suffixes – such as er, or, ist and an – depending on the word, different suffixes are used to stand for a person. 者 (mono / person) when read as sha is used in words such as shousha (winner) or hokousha (pedestrian). The kanji家 (ie / house) when read as ka is also used to stand for a person, as in onngakuka (musician) and geijutsuka (artist). It generally indicates that that person is an expert. The kanji 手 (te / hand) when read as shu is also used to mean a person, for instance, kashu (singer) and joshu (assistant).
