Overseas News Reported in Japan
Because Japan is an island nation, the news mainly covers domestic issues. In terms of overseas news, political, economic and cultural issues in the USA that are closely related to Japan, are widely reported. After this comes news from China, South Korea, North Korea and Russia, and this mainly focuses on defense or territorial issues. Besides that, the news often covers conflicts in the Middle East, while occasionally reporting on news about politics and culture in Europe. Though they are close geographically, there is little in the news about South East Asia and Oceania. Unless there’s been a political crisis or natural disaster, the news rarely covers issues in South America and Africa.
