A suspect escaped from an Osaka police cell in August, however, he was arrested 48 days later.
Pretending to be traveling around Japan, the suspect left Osaka on a stolen bicycle.
He asked for and was given a plate for his bicycle that read “Traveling Round Japan” by staff at Ehime Prefectural office.
Though he was wanted by the police, these members of staff were unable to identify him because his hair was shorter and he was sunburned.
His brazen behavior, which included having his photo taken with people along the way and leaving a thank you letter to someone who’d helped him, caused quite a stir.
