Providing an important service for local communities, buses are indispensable to people who don’t own cars.
In recent years, rather than take a train or plane, more and more people – especially young people – are using long distance buses which allow them to economically reach their destination.
Long distance buses have toilets.
There are also deluxe buses with a private room, bed, or dressing room.
Buses travelling direct to cities all over Japan depart from “Busta Shinjuku” (Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal).
In a single day one thousand several hundred buses depart and arrive, and some twenty thousand people use them.
