In 2000, many human bones from the late Yayoi period (about 1,800 years ago) were excavated at the Aoya-Kamijichi site in Tottori City, Tottori Prefecture.
Tottori Prefecture created a reconstructed facial image of the “Aoya Yayoi man” based on skull morphology and DNA analysis results. When the prefectural government solicited “Aoya Yayoi look-alikes” from all over Japan, itreceived 215 submissions.
An event was held in May this year to decide its Grand Prix. The first grand prix winner was YOSHIDA Masahiro.
Yoshida, who has grown his hair and beard and lost six kilograms, made the audience laugh, saying, “My daughter told me, ‘Don’t walk next to me.’”
