While the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics has been rescheduled for summer 2021, it has been announced that the name 2020 will be kept as is. Because of this decision, it will not be necessary to change things such as the logo. However, many other problems remain. Vice-Prime Minister ASO Taro has pointed out that the games run into difficulties every 40 years, and dubbed this the “cursed Olympics.” In 1940 it was supposed to be held in Tokyo, but was cancelled due to the Sino-Japanese War. In 1980, Japan joined Western nations in boycotting the Moscow Olympics because of the then Soviet Union’s invasion of Afghanistan.
