In April the Pyeongchang Legacy Foundation 2018 (Korea) presented the “Korea-Japan Friendship Award” to Japanese speed skater KODAIRA Nao and South Korean LEE Sang-hwa. The longtime rivals and friends competed for the gold medal at the Pyongchang Winter Olympics last year. After the race, the gold medalist Kodaira hugged and comforted Lee who cried on finishing second, breaking her consecutive streak of three wins. At the ceremony, Kodaira said, “The scene was not anything special for us, but very natural.”
