At places visited by many foreign tourists, such as sightseeing spots, menus in English or other languages are available, but besides this, menus at the majority of restaurants are only written in Japanese. However, many restaurants provide menus with photographs of dishes. Recently many izakaya have been using tablets as digital menus. There are also restaurants which display plastic replicas of dishes in a display case that look just like real food.
