In the fur department the man asks whether they have “daifuku,” by which he means a large size (dai) garment (fuku). Daifuku (a soft round cake stuffed with sweetened azuki-bean paste) is one of the most well-known Japanese cakes. Scene 2. Therefore, the shop assistant replies, “This is not a cake shop.” On hearing this, the man says “that’s strange (okashii). “Okashii” is also a pun on “okashi (cake).” * “Okashii” also means “funny.” Scene 3. He asks whether they have “iroke,” by which he means colored (iro) fur (ke). “Iroke” generally means “sexy.” So, she gets angry. Scene 4. The man wants to see a large-sized colored fur garment.
