New infections and deaths from Covid-19 are being reported every day.
The government declared a state of emergency and issued many guidelines which people were not legally bound to follow in Japan.
However, calls to refrain from leaving the house were mostly heeded by the Japanese people.
Regional differences in the number of people infected were also noted.
While there were none or only a few in some prefectures, in larger cities, there were many.
Afraid of a second wave of infections, even areas that used to welcome tourists asked them not to come.
