Kanpai Regulations
In general parties begin with a kanpai (toast) beer. Recently, it’s becoming popular all over the country for local authorities to begin banquets with an obligatory “kanpain jourei” of sake. Some municipalities use specialty produce, for example, shochu in Kyushu and wine in Furano City, Hokkaido. (From July issue, 2014 / 2014年7月号より）
