Who is in the Wrong?

The other day, I dropped into a coffee shop with a friend of mine, but it was extremely crowded. Only a table for two people by a wall was vacant, so I sat on the chair in front, while my friend went to sit on the chair to the back. However, the space between our table and the adjacent table was too narrow, so attempting to sit down, he turned his body sideways and walked like a crab. On the neighboring table a young man was using a PC and, unfortunately, my friend’s butt knocked over his glass of water. And so, water splashed onto the PC’s keyboard. My friend immediately said, “I’m sorry” to the young man. The young man didn’t say anything, and using an oshibori (wet towel) he wiped the keyboard, then, with tissue paper, he continued to mop up the water from the gaps between the keys. We thought it wasn’t a problem and started our conversation, but he remained silent, this time wiping his jeans. After a while, he suddenly opened his mouth, and addressed my friend, “I want you to pay the cleaning fee for my jeans, so please give me your business card.” My friend calmly refused his demand, saying, “It’s only water, and if you had moved your glass when you saw me squeezing through this narrow space, then it would not have fallen.” I thought the coffee shop was responsible for making customers squeeze through such a small space. The young man left his table saying, “I will consult with a lawyer.” After a while he returned to issue this parting shot at my friend: “I don’t care about the money, but you should be ashamed of yourself,” and left. Soon after, my friend said, “My new pants are also wet with water. I should have demanded a cleaning fee.”
