In October a commercial for a certain medicine got people talking.
The tagline for this cold remedy went: “When you catch a cold, stay at home!”
In response to this, many came out in support of this sentiment, saying things like, “At last a commercial is released that points out the obvious” and “Times have changed.”
Japanese people have a tendency to think that hanging in there even when they are suffering and continuing to work hard is a good thing.
Some years ago another pharmaceutical company sold a cold remedy with the tagline: “For you, who even though you have a cold, can’t take a day off.”
This caused an outcry and it was later changed.
